About AbleAssist.org

Able Assist provides free, accessible content formatted to support reading accessibility for individuals who are blind, deafblind, have low vision, are partially sighted, or are living with conditions such as dyslexia, dyspraxia, autism, dementia, or other neurodiverse challenges.

Able Assist is designed to provide accessible features that support independent navigation, personal study, and easier access to spiritual and educational material in formats that work well with assistive technology.

Able Assist is a personal initiative intended to assist individuals who are blind, DeafBlind, have low vision, or who benefit from accessible methods of reading and listening. The site uses accessible formats and screen-reader-friendly navigation to make study content easier to use. It is not an official website of JW.org or of the Watchtower Bible and Tract Society, but is motivated by a sincere desire to improve accessibility for individuals with a wide range of physical, sensory, and cognitive needs.

The Daily Text and Bible Reading page assists in following a one-year daily Bible reading schedule. It is designed to update each day so it is easy to stay on schedule.

For accessibility, Able Assist is optimized for users of screen readers such as VoiceOver, JAWS, ZoomText, NVDA, and TalkBack, as well as braille displays and keyboard navigation. Audio on the meetings page includes Bible quotations and reference material in an accessible format for easier preparation. The Enjoy Life Forever! section includes accessible audio and video support designed to help users follow along more independently. For individuals with low vision or dyslexia, Able Assist offers high-contrast color themes, large text, and customizable color settings to improve reading comfort and readability.

Able Assist also includes accessible media such as videos with audio description and transcripts that can be used with screen readers and braille devices. Songs and lyrics are presented in accessible formats to support learning, enjoyment, and participation.

In addition, helpful video tutorials are available for learning to use assistive tools such as the NLS Talking Book Player, VoiceOver, Alexa, and other accessible technologies.

This website is continually being improved. Personal settings are preserved as the site continues to grow and become easier to use across devices.

If you would like to request a feature, need help using Able Assist, or would like to share feedback, please email info@ableassist.org. We would love to hear from you so the site can continue improving accessible features for personal study.
